Skin Boosters

Skin Booster Treatment

Skin Booster Treatment

Skin booster treatments involve the use of hyaluronic acid (HA)–based products as part of an individualised clinical treatment plan. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the body and, in clinical settings, may be used to support skin hydration and skin quality where clinically appropriate.

Skin boosters are not intended to create volume, alter facial structure, or change facial features. Treatment suitability is determined following a comprehensive consultation and clinical assessment by a qualified health practitioner. Outcomes and treatment plans vary between individuals.

All injectable treatments involve prescription-only medicines and require consultation prior to treatment to assess suitability, discuss potential risks, and determine an appropriate approach.

Consultation and Clinical Assessment

All skin booster treatments require a face-to-face consultation with a qualified health practitioner. During this consultation, your goals, medical history, skin condition, and individual risk factors will be assessed to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you.

All procedures are performed by a registered nurse in accordance with current clinical guidelines and under medical supervision. Informed consent is obtained prior to treatment.

What to Expect

  • The skin is cleansed prior to treatment
  • Small treatment points are marked to support even distribution
  • The product is administered into the superficial layers of the skin using a specialised technique
  • Discomfort is generally mild; local anaesthetic may be offered where appropriate

Recovery and Aftercare

Temporary side effects may occur following treatment. These commonly resolve within hours to a few days.

General aftercare advice may include:

  • Avoiding makeup for 12 hours
  • Using gentle skincare and daily SPF 30+ sunscreen
  • Avoiding heat exposure and strenuous exercise for 24 hours

A personalised aftercare plan will be provided.

Treatment Plan and Frequency

An initial course of treatment may include two sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart. Additional sessions or maintenance treatments may be considered depending on individual response and clinical assessment.

Treatment plans are personalised, and results vary between individuals.

Preparation

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications unless prescribed (paracetamol may be used if required)
  • Attend your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin

Treatment Areas

Treatment suitability is assessed individually. Areas commonly discussed during consultation include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands

Other areas may be considered following clinical assessment.

Risks and Potential Risks

All cosmetic injectable treatments carry risks.

Common side effects may include:

  • Redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site
  • Mild pain or discomfort
  • Temporary lumps, firmness, or uneven texture

Less common but potential risks include:

  • Infection
  • Allergic or inflammatory reactions
  • Prolonged swelling or nodules
  • Skin discolouration

While serious complications are uncommon, they can occur. Individual risk varies and will be discussed during consultation.

In accordance with TGA and AHPRA advertising guidelines, prices for Schedule 4 prescription-only medicines cannot be publicly advertised. A personalised treatment plan and fee estimate will be provided following consultation and prescribing, where appropriate.
